CHC Consultancy for Gastronomy and Tourism recently visited a unique restauranr in the village of Hooge Zwaluwe in the province Noord Brabant, very close to Rotterdam and the motorway Rotterdam-Antwerp as well as to Germany.
Being involved in tourism and gastronomy for over 40 years, we must say that this unique concept was never seen before. The owners, Dieuwke en Willem Simonis did create a beautiful and cosy restaurant in a former Catholic Church. Most relics, such as the beautiful and playing organ, pulpit and confessional were saved and take their place in this unique restaurant. Guests can even light a candle.
The lunch menu's are a la carte and the special concept for dinners is a real invention. Guests can make a choice for a dinner with lots of surprises
and can make a choice for meat, fish, poultry and even vegetarian meals are foreseen. The guest gets a scala of f.e. wild board pate, guinea fowl, gamba's, various soups and also a taste of local dishes. All wishes can be fulfilled. The dessert shows various variations and are really the top of the evening. There are frequent changes in the menu.
For coach-operators this is a perfect stop en route to either Belgium,Germany or into Holland. Packages with tour suggestions will be made soon including cruises through the famous Biesbosch area.
The restaurant can cater for larger parties. Reservations are necessary. Ask for their group menu's.
